Why You Need This: The charging systems on all the old CL and CB Honda twins are weak at best. The factory voltage regulator (limits total voltage to the battery ) and rectifier (converts AC to DC) were barely up to the task back in the day. Add 40 years of heat, weather and previous owners wiring hacks and no wonder the battery on your bike is always dead. Well, we put our heads together and made a easy to install and affordable Honda replacement regulator / rectifier combo kit. This modern Honda CB350, CB360, CB450, CB500T regulator / rectifier combo is a single unit that replaces both factory parts. This is the single best electrical upgrade you can do to your Honda next to a halogen H4 headlight.

Installation Tip: This unit replaces both the factory regulator and rectifier. Depending on the bike you are working on, the new regulator rectifier can be mounted to the original voltage regulator bracket by elongating the holes with a round file. The original regulator and rectifier can be unplugged from the wiring harness and the new one simply connected. If your bike has the round style connection plug (many CB450's) then the old plug on the harness must be cut off and the new connector included with the unit must be plugged in. We highly recommend soldering the new leads into the system rather than just crimping on the connectors. The sole black wire connects where the black wire from the voltage regulator was connected to the harness. Some early bikes do not have a voltage regulator - only a rectifier. Wiring Notes CB450 K0 models:

The CB450 K0 has the same set up as the later bikes but the wiring colors are different from the stator coil to the new regulator rectifier. Additionally these bikes did not have a voltage regulator.

  • Brown from stator - connect to Pink on rectifier
  • Yellow & Pink from stator, combine together - connect to Yellow on rectifier
  • 12V switched on positive - to black on rectifier (voltage regulator connection)
